Ralph Peter Mohr

 Ralph P. Mohr, 91, of Sandy Spring, MD passed away on December 29, 2020. Son of the late Peter and Martha Mohr. Husband of the late Mary E. Mohr. Survived by his children, Peter Mohr (Andrea) of Brookeville, MD, Naomi Durdock (Andy) of Sykesville, MD, Edward "Ted" Mohr (ReNae) of Derwood, MD, Mary James (Steve) of Towson, MD, and Geoffrey Mohr (Anne Marie) of Olney, MD. Also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ralph grew up in Silver Spring, MD, the first generation son of parents who immigrated from Germany. He graduated from the University of MD with an engineering degree. After graduation he served two years in the USAF, stationed at Naha AFB in Okinawa, where he was an airplane and radio mechanic. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary E. McNeill in 1954. ln 1961 , they settled in Olney, MD to raise their family of five children. They were married for 58 years, until Mary's passing in 2012. Ralph worked his long career with major US Defense Contractor, Vitro, on projects involving submarines, Naval weapons systems and nuclear power plants. ln his retirement, he and his wife Mary enjoyed traveling and took many trips and cruises spanning the globe. He was a devout Catholic, and served in numerous ways at his local parish, St. Peter's Church in Olney. Other interests were his involvement with the Gaithersburg Model Railroad Society and attending Olney Theater. He also served alongside his wife with the Montgomery General Hospital's Women's Board. After Mary's passing, Ralph continued to serve with the Women's Board, and you could find him every Monday volunteering at their Thrift Shop in Olney up until age 90. The only thing that stopped him was the Covid shut down. For many years he was also a regular at the Aspen Hill Racquet Club, where he loved to go work out. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and loving spirit and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11 AM, located at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 2900 Sandy Spring Road., Olney, MD, 20832. Interment Private
