Patricia Newell Obituary

                                                     Patricia Hunt Newell

Mother, wife, Grandmother, sister, Aunt and best friend to everyone, Patricia H. Newell, age 76, passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2021 at her home.  Born in Washington, D.C. on April 11th, 1944 to Earline Hunt she graduated from Blair High School and later attended Montgomery College.  In September 1964 she married the love of her life John J. Newell who preceded her in death in 2019.

She was incredibly talented at sewing and owned “Striking Leotards” along with her mother and dear friend Wendy Butler providing fabulous athletic wear to gymnasts, ice skaters and swimmers for years. Later, she worked as an Executive Assistant at Chevy Chase Bank and retired in 2011.

Pat left behind a heck of a lot of stuff for her daughters due to her passion for visiting thrift stores, they’re not sure what to do with it all.  Her favorite place was “The Joint” where the thrill of the hunt took over, she always searched for both truth and treasures.  Pat became an expert in genealogy research while delving into her ancestry and unearthed her greatest treasure yet, her birth father Duane W. Weitz.

Pat loved to socialize and generously hosted many gatherings large and small.  Those who had the privilege to come into her world were greeted with a warm smile and sparkling blue eyes that lit up the room.  She was simply fun to be around, kind, authentic, and a truly special person. Pat always managed to have a good time regardless of what she was doing and more importantly wanted everyone around her to have a good time. In recent years she took on the hobby of making personalized fairy gardens.  She was crafty and had a flair for decorating everything in her life, her house, her yard, her outfits; she was one stylish lady never leaving the house without lipstick. Dancing with her husband was one of her joys, they were often the first to hit the dance floor and the last to leave.

She is survived by her daughters Pamela N. Calce (Matthew) and Stephanie N. Pack (Matthew); four grandchildren Nicholas and Charles Calce and Collin and Jordan Pack; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother Martin Hunt.  Pat will be forever dancing in the clouds with Nappy and will be missed but not forgotten.   A “Celebration of Life” will be hosted by Pat’s Girls in June.
