Norma Adam Obituary

Norma Annette Adam died from natural causes at the age of 92 on April 1, 2024. In addition to her parents, Norma is preceded in death by brother James, sister Marilyn and her husband Joe. Norma is survived by her daughter Cheryl Zarin (Jeff) and son Joe (Sheri) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born in Brooksville, Maine, Norma was the fourth of five children to Maurice and Dorothy (Fowler) Peasley. Norma grew up with her siblings Roger, James, Marilyn (Lymburner)and Berwyn in a home overlooking the beautiful view of Castine, Maine.

After graduating from high school Norma attended nursing school with several close girlfriends. She became a registered nurse working in Maine and soon after met her husband, Joe, at Bolling Airforce base. Norma and Joe were married March 12, 1954 and welcomed their daughter Cheryl and son Joe within the next two years. The family of four moved from Maine to Texas, then Florida and finally settled in Silver Spring, Maryland in 1972 where she resided until her death.

Norma, known for being strong willed, was a successful nurse working in orthopedics and keeping physicians on their toes. After retiring, Norma and Joe enjoyed spending long summers in their home in Maine on the cove of the Bagaduce River. You could find Joe in his respective workshops and Norma in her gardens. Norma loved being a Nana to her five grandchildren, Nicole (Barber), Lindsey (Simpson), Joey, Haley and Brady and great grandmother to Gage, Lyla and Strider. Perhaps her greatest role was being an avid and vocal supporter of all things her grandchildren participated in. Norma was always in the stands and could often be heard voicing her opinions on the referee or umpire. She was the quintessential fiery sports fan. We all loved her dearly and will forever miss her & grandpa entering a room with their trademark "Hello, hello!"

Please honor the amazing life of Norma by planting a flower in her name, hanging a bird feeder or sneaking snacks to the chipmunks in your yard.
