Marion Sanders Johnson, known to all as “Sandi” passed away following a very short illness on 30 Sep 2019 at Washington Hospital Center. She was born on 22 Aug 1947 in Morristown, NJ. She is survived by the love of her life, Ollie Gray, and her daughter Sharon E Johnson. She was preceded in death by her daughter Michelle K Johnson and her son T David Johnson, and well as her father Hugh Johnson, mother, Betty Johnson, and stepmother, Anne Johnson. She was loved by her sisters and brother in laws, Carol Beal, Ron Gray and JoAnn Jacobs, as well as nieces and nephews and numerous cousins, particularly, Sydney Petty, Maggie Sliker, and Howie Johnson, and many close friends, too numerous to list. Also survived by her brother Doug Johnson and Sister Ginny Taylor. As a registered nurse, Sandi worked in a variety of facilities. She was a former Air Force Nurse, and prior to retirement she sure enjoyed working at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center as a pediatric sedation nurse, where she “put kids to sleep for everything outside of the OR”. As a case manager for the militaries’ TRICARE North Region, she excelled at helping to make sure beneficiaries with special needs received the care they needed. Sandi loved to travel and in particular loved her numerous camping trips to Martha’s Vineyard with Ollie, as well as Puerto Rico. She was always happy when she had a fishing pole in her hand, and designated herself as the Co-Captain for the FV Skipper in Oak Bluffs, MV. The actual captain of the Skipper, John Potter, called her the Fluke Lady, because for years it was her dream to catch a fluke. Sandi loved to spend her days working on her fused glass, and teaching her students how to create beautiful stained glass. After multiple surgeries, Sandi became quite a fan of the Hallmark Mystery Channel and spent many hours watching that as well as watching her favorite shows which also included NCIS and Murder She Wrote over and over again. Sandi was a faithful member of the Wesley Grove United Methodist Church and had served on numerous committees. Service will be held at Wesley Grove United Methodist Church, 23640 Woodfield Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20882 on Sunday, 6 October 2019. Ollie and Sharon welcome you to share your memories with them prior to the service or at the meal to be served at the conclusion of the service.
