Joseph R. Frock

Joseph R. Frock, 86, of Olney, MD passed away on March 30, 2019. Son of the late John R. and Bessie Wert Frock. Survived by his wife, Joline Paradis Frock, as well as his brother Kenneth Frock (Nancy) and six children, Ann Frock, Scott Frock, Beth Frock (Jon Graham), Laura Hinders (Rod), Clare Frock, and Kristin Frock (Walter Teague). He was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Toney. Also survived by ten grandchildren, April Byrnes-Smolenskiy, Noah Frock Dorbin, Katherine Page, Benjamin Toney, Rhianna Graham Frock, Chloe Graham Frock, Giles Joseph Hinders, John Henry Hinders, Karl Teague, and Celia Teague. Survived as well by five great-grandchildren, Justin Toney, Makayla Page, Mackenzie Page, Austin Penland, and Ryan Penland. 

Joseph Frock was born and raised in Pottstown, PA. He was a devoted husband for 64 years, and a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, then graduated from the engineering program at Purdue University. He had a long career as an electrical engineer for Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where he never missed a day of work. He held master’s degrees in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. 

Joseph and his wife traveled extensively, visiting their many relatives and friends across the country and going to every state in the U.S., along with many international locales. He loved visiting ocean beaches on the East and West Coasts, particularly Dewey Beach, Delaware, where his family vacationed from the time he was a youngster. Joseph and Joline were avid total eclipse enthusiasts, and witnessed many eclipses around the world, as far away as Africa and China. For many decades, Joseph and his children enjoyed watching Orioles baseball together.    

He had attended Sandy Spring Friends (Quaker) Meeting since the 1970's. There, he was a member of several committees and a dedicated driver for Sandy Spring Friends House.
