John L. Yoscak, Jr. (known as J.R.) passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2022.
He was a husband, preceded in death by his wife Helen Yoscak, father to Cynthia Hachem (husband Bernard Hachem), John L. Yoscak, III (wife Valerie Harris Yoscak), Michelle Kuldell (husband Chipp Kuldell), grandfather to Christine Weidman (husband Stephen Weidman), and triplets Holly, James, and CarrieAnna Kuldell, and immensely proud to be a great grandfather to Stephen Weidman, Jr. He was married to his bride for 64 years when she passed in 2021.
John (J.R.) was enjoying retirement at the time of his death. Prior to that he was an engineer, draftsman and owner of Yoscak Associates for over 30 years along with his son John. In his early years before marriage, he was a member of the National Guard. During and after college at Ohio State, he worked for North American Aviation at his childhood dream job: designing and building airplanes. He was a partner at a company called Envirosearch in the 1970’s, inventing a pocket air pollution indicator, and a glucose analyzer. He was quite the entrepreneur, inventing, and designing, and had a great love for science and the medical field.
He was an avid golfer. His favorite local course was Maple Run, followed by Blue Mash and the Laytonsville Golf Course. For many years he had annual golf trips with friends to Myrtle Beach. He loved to travel and take cruises with Helen, they had the good fortune to take 21 cruises together.
When he wasn’t on the golf course, he was following the latest trends in the stock market for the most profitable trades. While doing so he would routinely take care of the stray cats in the community that would visit him at his door morning and evening.
We will always remember him as a magnetic, outgoing and charming man who deeply loved his family and friends.
Relatives and friends may visit on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Rd., Laytonsville, MD 20882, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 11am. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Germantown, MD.
