Frank J. Colella, 91, of Olney, MD passed away on June 18, 2019. Son of the late Guy and Josephine Colella. Survived by his wife, Roselyn Dumm Colella, as well as his three children, Daniel Colella of Damascus, MD, Carol Mead (Robert) of Woodbine, MD, and Patrick Colella (Maureen) of Winfield, MD. Predeceased by his daughter, Debra Colella. Also survived by his grandchildren, Robert III, Christopher, Katie, Patrick, John, Christopher, Amanda, Nicholas, and Jourdan, as well as two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Bentley, his sister, Clare Brewer of Arizona, and two brothers, David Colella of Delaware and Charles Colella of Delaware.
Frank served in the US Army during World War II. He was a devoted husband to Roselyn Dumm Colella. Lived in Rockville, MD until 1972 when they moved to their home in Olney, MD for the past 43 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olney for 47 years where he graced everyone with his beautiful voice in the choir. He was a member of the St. Michaels Knights of Columbus, Lisbon, MD. His passions were hunting, fishing, coin collecting, playing poker with his buddies, and steaming Maryland blue crabs. He earned many awards throughout his career as a detective with the Montgomery County Police Department, including Policeman of the Year. He leaves a fingerprint on the hearts of many.
Relatives and friends may visit on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 9:30am to 11am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 2900 Olney-Sandy Spring Rd., Olney, MD 20832, where a Funeral Mass will be held at 11am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Special Olympics Maryland, 3701 Commerce Dr. Suite 103, Baltimore, MD 21227 (in memory of Frank Colella on checks).
