David Hobbs Obituary

David Hobbs, 79, of Sandy Spring, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020, at Washington Hospital Center.  He was the son of Mary and Donald R. Hobbs Sr., the brother of Shirley Hobbs Martin (Don), Donald R. Hobbs Jr. (Ruth), Thomas Hobbs (Kimberly), Charlotte Kirk (Buster), and Steve Hobbs (Joan).

Dave is survived by his wife Cathy Sheriff Hobbs, his son David Allen Hobbs Jr., (Susan) and daughter Mary Beth Kingsley (Frank); and grandchildren Lucas Kingsley, Wesley Hobbs, Benjamin Hobbs, and Hope Kingsley.  In addition to his immediate family, he will be missed by Pam Sheriff, Nanci Pope (John), Vicki Stroup (Donnie), and many nieces and nephews.

Dave was a life-time member of the Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair; he attended Sherwood High School Class of 1959; served in the U. S. Army from 1965-1967; and worked in landscaping for Donald R. Hobbs and Sons.

He was a loyal fan of the Washington Redskins and the Washington Nationals.

Family and friends are invited to attend grave site services on Saturday, September 26, at 11 am at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Mount Airy.  Please observe Covid-19 precautions.  A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 295, Sandy Spring, MD 20860, for the restoration of a 1949 Mack Fire Truck called 'Pearl' previously owned by the department.
