Barbara M. Johnson

            Barbara M. Johnson age 96 peacefully entered the arms of the lord on December 16, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Robert Lee Johnson of over 40 years who died on February 5, 1991. Barbara was born at her family home in Ashton, MD on February 2, 1926, in a blizzard. She was the daughter of the late Harry C. Poole and Virgie Mae (Knight) Poole.

            Barbara was a petite, beautiful woman inside and out who was gentle, but feisty and energetic. Barbara worked at the Montgomery Farm Women’s Cooperative Market in Bethesda Md for over 70 years. First working in the office, then taking over her mother in law’s Margaret (Maggie) farm stand where she sold her delicious baked goods and fresh homegrown vegetables. She took on the role as president of the market for the last 15 plus years. Barbara adored her customers, who became friends, watching them grow up and have families of their own.

            Barbara’s idea of relaxation was spending time with family and taking care of her animals. She is Survived by her son William (Eddy) Johnson of Silver Spring; Patty Johnson of Olney; their son William (Bob) Johnson and his wife Jordan Crouse of Westminster; Her great grandchildren Harley and Riley; and their son Thomas Johnson and his wife Diana Americano of Olney.

             Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 11am to 12pm at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Rd., Laytonsville, MD 20882, where funeral services will be held at 12pm.
