Elmer Henry Holmes

Elmer Henry Holmes, age 73, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away on Thursday, August 2nd, 2018 at Washington Hospital Center, DC.

Elmer was born in Tazewell, Virginia on January 7th, 1945. He retired as a crew supervisor for the City of Rockville with 35 years of service. Elmer was a hard-working man who loved spending time with his family, fishing, going to the turkey shoots and horse races. He was adored by his wife, daughters and grandchildren.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Florence Holmes; sisters, Helen Howard, Mabel Littrell, Jewel Outen and Sue Simmons. 

Elmer is survived by his wife of 50 years, Erma Holmes; daughters, Brenda Holmes, Sherry Butt and Linda Holmes; sisters, Patsy Fitzwater (Armer) and Carol Simmons; brothers, Harold Holmes (Debbie); brother in-laws, Ed Vaughn and Dee Bloomer (Susie); grandchildren, Kelly, Tyler and Lily; Aunt, Eva Harper, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Visitation will be on Monday, August 6th, 2018 from 6PM-8PM at the Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville, MD 20882.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 7th, 2018 at 11AM at the Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville with Pastor Leon Dodson of Mount Hope Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Germantown.
