Ann Burger Obituary

 

Ann McGill Burger (nee Whittaker), 87, of Olney, MD, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019 at South River Health Care Center in Edgewater MD, where she resided the past 21 months due to injuries sustained from a car accident.

Ann was born in Washington, D.C. on July 15, 1932, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Florence Whittaker. In 1953 she married Raymond Charles Burger, they were married for 51 years until his death in 2004. She graduated from Montgomery Blair High School and then went on to Marjorie Webster where she got her degree in Early Childhood Education. She and Ray resided in Ohio for a short time so he could attend dental school. Upon his graduation, they moved to Olney, MD to start a Dental Practice. While raising her family, Ann worked with Ray in the Dentist office until they both retired and closed the office in 2002. Ann enjoyed her family and many friends she had throughout her life. Her interests included working in her flower garden, watching sports on TV, playing ping pong and most recently watching the birds from her room. She also had a love for animals.

She is survived by her daughter Julie A. Dieux and husband Mike Bernhardt of Shady Side, MD; son Raymond C. Burger, Jr. and wife Laurie of Frederick, MD; daughter Lisa W. Stanley and husband Lee of West River, MD; Son John P. Burger and wife Yvette of Mt. Airy, MD; her Grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric MacKay) Dieux, Kelly Dieux, Jacob (Laura) Burger, Charlie (Charmaine) Dieux, Lucas Burger, Leah (Pete) Morrow, Whitney Dieux, Matthew (Courtney) Stanley, Paige Burger, Jack Stanley, Winston Burger, Sam Stanley, Garrett Burger, and Colton Burger; Great Grandchildren include James (Erika) MacKay, Craig MacKay, Stephen MacKay, Noah Cooper, Charlie Dieux, Savannah Dieux, Greyson Cooper, Caleb Dieux, Keaton Burger, Grant Burger, Mick Morrow, Bennett Stanley; Great-Great Grandchildren Alice MacKay and Easyn MacKay. She also leaves behind her beloved cats Sox and Patches.

She was preceded in death by her loving Husband Raymond in 2003, her Sister Marilyn Johns in 1984, and her parents.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 11:30 AM at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Rd., Laytonsville, MD. Burial will follow at Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, MD.
