William Earl Dent Jr. passed quietly on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. He was surrounded by family.
Bill is survived by his son Larry, daughter Linda, 3 granddaughters, Brandi, Mindi, Staci and 9 great grandchildren. His wife Carolyn of 71 years passed earlier this year in June.
He was born in Washington, DC on February 9, 1933, where he was raised and graduated from McKinley Tech High School. Bill spent his entire working career as a federal employee, working as a Cartographer in Bethesda, MD.
He and Carolyn raised their family in Montgomery County and lived there until 2006. They re-located to the Eastern Shore where they enjoyed local seafood, vegetables, melons and cakes. There were many meals with crab cakes, sweet corn and Smith Island cake.
Bill enjoyed watching many sports, especially football and his favorite, baseball. He and Carolyn rarely missed an Orioles game. He also enjoyed NASCAR. While raising their family, he and Carolyn rarely missed a Little League game, and later, Sherwood High School baseball or football game when a family member was playing. Fishing on the Chesapeake Bay was also a favorite as he spent many hours catching rockfish and bluefish on his boat, Miss Carol Lin.
There will be a service on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Parklawn Cemetery.
