William J. Davis, III

William Jones Davis III of Laytonsville, MD died peacefully at the age of 90 on April 27, 2021. Son of William and May Davis. Predeceased by wife, Ruth Warfield Davis, son, David Michael Davis and sister, Mary Graham Davis Smith. He is survived by his children Mary Elizabeth Davis, Merhle William Yetter and husband, Tom, and Ruth Anne Shanzer and husband Michael as well as grandchildren Tyler Cope and wife Tia, Tanner Cope and Wife Dustie, Trenton Cope, Ashlyn Cope, Jaden Shanzer, Brooke Shanzer and Andrew Gilchrist and great grandchildren Landen, Lane, Bailey, Cash, Bristol, Emmalyn, Jaxson, Braxton and McKenna. After his service in the United States Army, William graduated college from the University of Maryland and then worked & retired from the US Geological Survey and the Montgomery County Division of Storm Water Management. He was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Laytonsville, MD.

A private, family service for William and his wife, Ruth, will be held on June 12, 2021.
