Vernon James Person, Sr.

 
Vernon James Person Sr. passed away on January 17, 2022 at Adventist Health Care in Tacoma Park Md. following complications related to Covid-19. Born on July 20, 1924 in Pine, Minnesota to the late Russel and Emily Person, Vernon was a loving son, faithful husband, and World War II Army Veteran. Vernon was married to the love of his life Helen Irene (Renie) for 50 years until her passing on August 8, 1999. Vernon and Renie had 5 children together. Vernon enjoyed studying and learning. He was always undertaking some new area of study - especially when he heard one of his children / grandchildren or great grandchildren had taken up an area of interest. He also enjoyed innumerable small hobbies and pleasures such as archiving family genealogy, cultivating a backyard sanctuary for his loyal deer and squirrel
families, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid reader, list maker, and lover of music (especially music performed by his grandchildren). Vernon was predeceased by his wife, and their son Charles Person. He is survived by his four children, Vernon Person Jr., Peggy Williams, John Person, and Judy Stathes. He was the loving grandfather of twenty grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 2:30pm at Norbeck Memorial Park in Olney, MD.
