Troy Elliott Young

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Troy Elliott Young, 45, who passed away in Damascus, MD on February 12th, 2025. He was born on June 23rd, 1979, son of Tammee Young and Derrick McShann, in Weirton, WV.

He is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Donald Young, his paternal grandmother, Katherine McShann and grandfather Sam Profit.

He is survived by his wife, Jody Young, son, Elijah Young, mother, Tammee Young, father Derrick McShann and maternal grandmother, Florence Williams. Surviving brothers are Tory Young, Quintin McShann and sister Deja McShann along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Troy loved the Lord. Troy was involved in many types of ministry work including leading a Bible Study with his Christian brothers and sisters and creating a video Pod Cast.

Troy loved and adored his only son Elijah, and wanted only the best for him. Troy loved being a dad. He worked hard at teaching Elijah about God and new things.   

He enjoyed music and played the saxophone, keyboard and taught himself to play the guitar. He had a Bachelor’s Degree in Animations and was licensed as a Master Electrician.  

All Flowers should be delivered to Barber Funeral Home by 4pm on Saturday, February 15th, or to Church of the Redeemer by 9:30am on Monday, February 17th.

Services:

A Viewing will be held February 17, 2025 starting at 10:00am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am at The Church of The Redeemer – South Chapel 19425 Woodfield Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20879. 

Interment will follow after the service starting at 1:00pm at the Union Cemetery of Montgomery 3001 Spencerville Rd. Burtonsville, MD 20866.
