Ruth Josephine (Little) Baker 

Ruth Baker, born November 8, 1930, devoted mother and beloved wife of Robert G. Baker, died on September 15, 2025, at 94 years old. A memorial service will be held on September 22, 2025, at Oakdale Church, Olney, Maryland. Her son, Rev. Kevin Baker will preside. The burial will be at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens, West Jefferson, NC on September 25, 2025, following a service at Boone Family Funeral Home, also in West Jefferson, NC.

Ruth graduated from Jefferson High School, Jefferson, NC. After marrying, she lived in the Baltimore/Washington area for much of her life. She held clerical and administrative positions in the federal government at both the Census Bureau and the Social Security Administration. Ruth was passionate about spending time with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. Ruth was also a devoted follower of Jesus and was regularly comforted by God’s great love for her.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert Baker, her parents, Gaither and Ella Little, and her siblings James Little, Ralph Little and her younger sister, Dorthy (Little) Campbell. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Baker (wife, Nancy) and Kevin Baker (wife, Michelle), along with seven grandchildren - Joshua Baker (wife, Antonia), Katheryn Evans (husband, Chad), Allyson Atkins (husband, Richard), Jeremiah Baker (wife, Katie), Samantha Martinez (husband, Ian), Jacob Baker and Abigail Baker, and nine great-grandchildren - Belen Baker, Amaia Baker, Ezekiel Atkins, Nathaniel Atkins, Gabriel Atkins, Bode Baker, Oliver Baker, Jamie Baker, and Josephine Martinez.
