Ronald Lees Obituary

Ronald (Ron) Lees went home to be with The Lord on February 16, 2025. He was born on January 21, 1935 to James and Isabella Lees in Edmonton, Essex, England and was one of five children. Ron attended Tottenham Grammar School in Tottenham, where he excelled in the sciences. He enjoyed riding his bicycle for long distances. After completing school, Ron served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) for two years. Upon returning to civilian life he married Margaret Lillian Hummerson. Ron and Margret had two children, Laurie (Laurence) and Joanne (Jo). In 1965, Ron and his family moved to the United Stated (US), and then to Scotland in 1966. They returned to the US in 1968, where they continued to live. Ron worked for Flow Laboratories, which later became Novavax, for several decades. Ron was very active in the Scouts and soccer with the kids, serving as Laurie's Scout Master and soccer coach, and remained friends with the boys he coached. He and Margaret supported Joanne in her Scouts and music endeavors. Ron was a huge Tottenham Hotspurs fan and rarely missed a televised game. Ron and Laurie talked each Sunday, discussing the games and life. He and Joanne often got together for visits and to try new restaurants. Ron was also an active and important part of his grandkids' and great-grandkids' lives. Margaret passed away on February 4, 1992, a huge loss for the entire family. Ron married Ann Younkins in 1993. He and Ann shared the love of bird watching and traveling around the country. Ron also loved taking photographs of nature and won many first place ribbons at the Montgomery County Fair. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Margaret, two brothers, one sister, and other family and friends. Survivors include his wife Ann and her son Ray; older brother Doug; son Laurie and wife Debi; daughter Joanne and husband Russell; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.
