Robert "Bob" Lambie

Robert “Bob" Lambie quietly passed away on the morning of October 14, 2024 after a week-long hospitalization. He was surrounded during the week by his family.

Bob was the only child born to William Arthur and Anne Belle Lambie on Mother’s Day of 1930 in Marion OH. He later moved to Fairview Park, OH where he graduated from Fairview High School and played varsity football.  After a game one Saturday, he was introduced to Carolyn Austin who attended the rival school. He promptly went home to tell his parents that he “met the girl he was going to marry”—and he did.

Bob and Carolyn were married on December 30,1951 while he was serving in the US Army for 2 years. The couple raised a family and spent wonderful summer vacations in Combermere, Ontario Canada at their family cottage fishing, swimming and rock hunting. Bob worked for the Cleveland Press Newspaper as a Journeyman Pressman until he retired.

That’s when their adventure really began…Bob and Carolyn sold their house and travelled the US and Canada in their RV for over a decade meeting all kinds of people and seeing new places. Bob and Carolyn remained active in their church communities throughout their travels. They settled in Arizona for quite a few years but eventually headed back east to be closer to their family who brought them much joy. Bob lost his beloved Carolyn in June of 2023.

Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Lauren & Rick Tharp, grandchildren: Andy & Katie Tharp, Tom & Kaitlin Tharp, Miranda & Kenny Lautz-Tharp and great-grandchildren: Julian, Caleb and Linden Tharp.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on December 22, 2024 at 5:00 pm at the United Church of Christ of Seneca Valley in Germantown MD with an informal reception to follow the service.
