Robert Lee King
“Robbie” of Mount Airy, MD passed away following a lengthy stay at Frederick Health Hospital on June 17th 2023.
Anyone who knew Robbie knew how special he was, he could put a smile on anyone’s face. Robbie enjoyed spending time at the ARC with his friends. Robbie also participated in the Montgomery County Special Olympics years ago, which was amazing. Anyone who knew Robbie, I can bet the first thing they think of is hats, he LOVED hats! His famous words were “you got my hat? Or where’s my hat?” Sometimes he’d ask someone that even if it was their first time meeting him. His love for hats grew so big that his Mom and Dad put a shed on the property just to store them. He also had a pen collection but that was nowhere near as big as his hat collection. Robbie also loved pizza, if you’d let him, he would more than likely pick pizza for dinner every night. One of Robbie’s favorite songs was “who let the dogs out?” And one of his favorite singers was Kenny Rogers. To know Robbie was to love him.
Robbie attended Long View School and graduated from there at age 21.
Robbie is survived by his mom Helen King, brother Mel King III, sister-in-law Nancy King, his great nephew Jacob Shrewsberry, his nephew Mel-Mel (Courtney aka Corky), his niece - Amber Barnes (Ambs) (Ervin Barnes- aka Big Erm), his niece Shannon Mills and his nephew Ronald Mills Jr. (aka Rock) numerous great nieces & nephews.
A few special family members he really took to were Dennis King, Mark Stokes, Ervin Barnes, Strag Nichols and Ronald Mills Jr. He enjoyed their company a lot.
Robbie was proceeded into death by his Dad, the late Mel King Jr, his sister Tammy Mills and brother-in-law Ronald Mills Sr. Grandparents, Mel King Sr and Mildred King. Grandmother Maxiene Chaney very special friend Janice Kraft and numerous Aunts and Uncles that were surely waiting with arms wide open for him.
