Celebrating the Life of Peter Moholt (1937–2026)

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Peter Andrew Moholt announces his passing on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the age of 88. Peter was born on October 14, 1937, to Esther and Ongle Moholt in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He began his professional journey as a forester before becoming a respected commercial real estate appraiser in the D.C. area. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille, and his son, Mark Moholt.

He is survived by his sister, Alice Medin; his two children, Eric (and his wife, Lisa) and Amy (and her husband, James); and his seven grandchildren: Zach, Hannah, Ryan, Mark, and Mallory Moholt, and Kaitlyn, Julia, and Caroline Hickey. Peter was a devoted father and well-known entrepreneur in Montgomery Village.  He touched many lives by creating businesses for his children and their friends to work and stay out of trouble.  Such businesses included produce stands, Christmas tree stands, an Exxon gas station, and On The Avenue Donut and Deli.

He will be remembered as a kind person who was generous with both his time and energy. His legacy as a family man will forever live on in the memories of all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 2pm to 4pm at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Rd., Laytonsville, MD 20882.
