Paulette Troutner Obituary

Paulette Louise (Steele) Troutner passed away on July 2, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born in Natrona Heights, PA on October 22, 1947, to parents Walter W. Steele Jr. and Regina M. (Trawinski) Steele. She grew up in Vandergrift, PA and graduated from Kiski Area High School. After graduating from Penn State in 1965 with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, she worked at Bloomingdale’s in New York City and later as a manager for the retail women's clothing store T.H. Mandy in Maryland.

In 1979, she transitioned to insurance and spent the next 35 years helping to build and then running the daily operations of Boizelle Insurance Partnership in Gaithersburg, MD. Well-respected for her hard work and dedication, she was a pioneer in a field that had few female agency principals.  Under her leadership the agency saw significant growth and received numerous awards and recognitions.

Paulette was a loving, caring and devoted mother and worked hard to raise her two sons Christopher and Matthew as a single mother in the 1980s. As her family grew by marriage, she showed the same love and care to her two daughters-in-law, Rita and Melanie. Her greatest pride and joy was found in her grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Abigail, and William, whom she loved beyond words.

Family was very important to Paulette, and she made sure to celebrate as many birthdays and special events as possible with both her brother, Daryl Steele, and her sister, Tami (Steele) Szalanski.  She was also very close with her niece Anna Myers.  She was able to give Anna a place to stay after her time in the Peace Corps and even helped her to start her professional career at Boizelle Insurance, where they worked alongside one another for several years.

Paulette lived in Clarksburg, MD for 38 years before retiring to Ocean View, DE in 2015 where she enjoyed watching ducks and geese on the lake behind her house, as well as traveling to Aruba and Europe with her dear friends. She had a keen fashion sense and was always dressed to impress whether at work or on the go. She loved finding a unique piece of jewelry to brighten any look, however her most beloved part of any outfit was the shoes. She loved shoes. She really loved shoes. But while she liked having nice things that she worked very hard to earn. She enthusiastically shared her success with her family and was very generous in donating to many charities.

After battling illness for almost 3 years, she has gone to rest in Heaven. We are beyond sad at her passing, but forever grateful that she was in our lives.
