Norman Queen Sr. Obituary

Norman K. Queen Sr., 82, of Damascus, MD passed away on Wednesday, July 8th, 2020. Son of the late James E. Queen and Mary Kent Queen. Survived by his wife, Phyllis Royce Queen, and two sons, Robert Queen (Alison) of Mt. Airy, MD and Norman Queen Jr. of Mt. Airy, MD. Also survived by sister, Mary Ruhl of Chevy Chase, MD and two grandchildren.

Upon graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Okinawa

After leaving the Air Force, he joined the Montgomery County Police in 1961.  He served his community with pride as a police officer for 23 years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant.

After his retirement from the police force, he once again served his community for 15 years as a school bus driver for Montgomery County Public Schools

After his retirement from MCPS, he worked driving a bus for Bar T Ranch in Laytonsville

His final career saw him as the Chaplain for the Montgomery County Police Alumni Association

He served as a deacon and lay minister at Tri County Baptist Church

He was an extremely talented musician and singer who played music professionally for his entire life since he was a teenager

 

A private/family only service will be held at Tri-County Baptist Church.

Interment is open to all (facemasks required), located at Parklawn Cemetery, 12800 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 1:00PM.
