Nancy McHarg Obituary

Nancy McHarg passed away on May 5th 2026 in Mt. Airy, MD. Nancy, the daughter of the late Otto and Vestel McCloud, was born on November 9th, 1935. She grew up in Michigan and lived the majority of her life in Olney, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, James McHarg, four brothers, and her son, Dan Nugent. She is survived by her children, Colleen Gallegos (Cary) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michael McHarg (Denise) of Odenton, MD, Jim McHarg (Melissa) of Odenton, MD, Amy Hall (John) of Monrovia, MD, AnnMarie Kline (Brad) of Monrovia, MD, 14 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

Nancy loved crafting, she was exceptionally talented at cross-stitching. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, whether it be her famous pumpkin roll at Christmas time or her lemon brandy chicken, whatever she made was always a delight. She loved plays and musicals and listening to traditional music, notably Frank Sinatra. She enjoyed traveling and planned various trips when she worked at Leisure World in Olney, MD.

Nancy was an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, treasure with a caring soul. She was truly one in a million, and she will be immensely missed by all who love her.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, May 17th, 2026 from 3pm to 6pm at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Rd., Laytonsville, MD 20882. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 18th, 2026 at 12pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck, Rd., Rockville, MD 20853. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
