Mary Ann Hottinger

Mary Ann (Lawson) Hottinger, age 91 of Gaithersburg, MD., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 3, 2025.  She was the loving wife of the late Gene F. Hottinger who passed away in October, 1994.  Born on March 9, 1934 in Fountain Mills, MD. Mary is the daughter of the late John W. Lawson, Sr. and Ethel June Kidd.  She was predeceased by son Michael Hottinger, brothers John W. Jr., and George C. Lawson and sisters Margaret Duvall, Cecil King and twin Jennie Doody.  Mary leaves behind four sons, Donald (Jacqueline), Aubrey, Charles (Deneice) and Robert Hottinger.  Also grandsons Brian, Daniel (Sara), Matthew Hottinger, Jason Spriggs and granddaughters Amanda Grove (Ryan) and Elan Mazziotta.  She has 16 great grandchildren and a special niece Missy Yinger.  She was also a devoted dog Mom to her companion Sally and was predeceased by her dog Katrina.  Mary was a Homemaker and avid bingo player.  She retired from Shady Grove Hospital housekeeping department in 1999 after 20 years of service.  She was an active member of the GWGFD Ladies Auxilary for years.  She will be truly missed by all.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025 at Roy W. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville, MD.  Services will be held there on Friday Oct. 10, 2025 at 11 a.m.  Interment will be at Forest Oak Cemetery in Gaithersburg, MD.
