Mary Jane Kennedy

Mary Jane Kennedy, 92 of Gaithersburg passed peacefully on Sunday, May 17 2026 at Brooke Grove Assisted Living in Sandy Spring, Maryland. 

Born in Gaithersburg, Maryland she was the daughter of Alice and Michael Eader and the sister of seven brothers and sisters.  She attended Gaithersburg High School where she met the love of her life, the late Frank Kennedy.  She and Frank were married at St Luke’s Lutheran Church in Redland, Maryland where they were active members for over 50 years.  She had a career as a secretary at NIH before devoting her life to being a homemaker, mother and grandmother. 

Survivors include her three children and their spouses Gary and Pam Kennedy, John and Renan Kennedy and Karen and Steve Trageser, her six grandchildren Luke Kennedy, Grace Kennedy, Colin Kennedy, Shannon Trageser, Christopher Kennedy and Megan Trageser as well as her brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.   

Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished anytime spent with them. 

A visitation and service will be held Friday, May 29, 2026 from 11-1pm at Roy W. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville, Maryland.  Internment will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery in Rockville at 2:30pm. 

Memorial Contributions may be made to local fire departments.
