Marilynn Jones Obituary

Marilynn Jane Jones

December 10th, 1933 - May 18th, 2022

Born in Terre Haute Indiana to Newton and Christine Clark she was the 4th of 7 children, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. She attended Garfield High School in Terre Haute. She met her husband Robert (Bob) E. Jones in 1954. By 1956, two children Robert Gregory (Greg) and Ormond ‘Brad’ford were born to the couple. In 1957 the family moved to Maryland where Bob had been hired by the United States Government. Christianity was an important part of her life before marriage and certainly after her family was started. The young family first attended Hughes United Methodist Church in Silver Spring, Md. Then after moving to Brookeville she attended Ashton United Methodist Church until her death. Marilynn worked on church dinners, bazaars and was a member of The United Methodist Women for many years. Active in the shepherding of her children she worked in several cafeterias in Montgomery County public schools where her sons attended bringing her ‘home cooking’ for all to enjoy, especially her sons. Marilynn was the quintessential Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She loved the Grandmother part the best. Marilynn was predeceased by her husband in 2019. She is survived by two sisters and two brothers, her sons Greg and Brad, Daughters-in-law Erriette (Etty) and Lynne, six Grandchildren, Benjamin Jones, Matthew Jones, Rebecca Jones, Jimmy Cleary, Rene Jones Lisander, and Nicole Adler Frigoletto.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 1pm at Ashton United Methodist Church, 17314 New Hampshire Ave., Ashton, MD 20861. Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery in Rockville, MD.
