Maiga Miezis

Maiga Miezis, 94, of Gaithersburg, MD passed away on September 13, 2022. Maiga was born in Latvia on February 27th, 1928. Her family escaped from the Soviets during World War II to a displaced persons camp in Germany. After the war she emigrated with her family to Poolesville, MD. She worked on a farm and for the Marriott Corporation after coming to the United States. In 1957 she married Ramons Miezis and became a housewife and Mother. She loved singing and dancing and especially children. 

Maiga was the daughter of the late Emils and Milda Ulis. She is predeceased by her husband Ramons Miezis. Maiga is survived by her children, Ranta Kibbe (Jim) and Ronalds Miezis (Cindy), as well as her grandchildren, Amanda Sallade (Rob), Alexandra Kleebauer (Scott), Sasha Miezis, Grant Miezis and great-grandchildren, Evelyn Sallade and Emma Sallade. She is also survived by her brother, John Ulis (Mara). Maiga is predeceased by twin sisters Vija Smith and Rasma Kuplis and her brother Edgars Ulis. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
