Lois Kubu Obituary

LOIS RUTH KUBU, age 86, passed away peacefully at Montgomery Medstar Medical Center in Olney, MD on July 6, 2020.  She was born in New York City on January 13, 1934 to William and Ella Cramer.  She is predeceased by her parents, husband Richard (“Dick”) John Kubu, and sister, Eleanor (Cramer) Fisher.  Lois graduated from Flushing Medical School in New York City with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 1954.  During her career, she worked as a delivery room nurse, often delivering babies by herself.  Later, she was the head nurse at several local nursing homes, as she loved to help the elderly.  Lois was married in 1957 to her love, Dick Kubu, and they had six children, Laurie, Richard Scott, Lisa, Barbara, Kenneth, and Bruce.  Lois is survived by six children, thirteen grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and seven step great-grandchildren, to include Richard Scott (Diana) and his children [Richard, Justin (Kaylie) and Allison (Evan), and step-children Michelle (Chris), Matthew (Michelle), Mark (Princess), and Vanessa (Jim)], Lisa Nestor (David) and their children [Kimberly (Kevin) and Shawn, and step-children Chastity and Danielle (Bobby)], Barbara Gordon (Steve) and their children [Sarah (Ross), Matthew (Kim), Thomas (Elizabeth), and Andrew], Kenneth Kubu (Joyce), Bruce Kubu (Nika) and their son [Richard Alexander], and her daughter Laurie Taylor (Terry) and her children [Christopher, Kyle and Jonathan].

Our mom loved her family the most, but also greatly enjoyed going to church at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Olney, MD where she was a long-time member since 1977.  She was an avid Washington Nationals fan and was ecstatic when her team won the 2019 World Series.  Additionally, Lois loved going to her condo in Ocean City and enjoyed her pool, where she could often be found with her family.  Lois was a lover of animals in general, but absolutely loved her German Shepherds:  Thor, Major, Shep, Alicia, and Logan.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and friend to everyone she met.  She will be missed greatly.

Lois’ funeral service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Olney, MD on Monday, July 13, 2020 during a private ceremony for immediate family only due to the current COVID restrictions.  Burial will take place at Norbeck Memorial Park in Olney, MD.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in her memory to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Olney, MD.
