Lois Teresa Erb

Lois Teresa Erb - beloved grandmother, mother, sister, and friend - passed away April 14, 2026 after declining health in recent months. Lois was born in Baltimore, where she lived until moving to Taneytown, Maryland as a teenager when her family began a dairy farm. After graduating from high school, she worked as a telephone operator in Baltimore. She met Donald Erb - a native of Taneytown - and they married in 1965.

Lois and Don moved to Columbus, Ohio for five years, before settling in the Laytonsville area of Gaithersburg where they raised two children, Jason and Jennifer. Lois was deeply involved in her community and frequently volunteered at Laytonsville Elementary School when her children were students. As her children grew older she went back to work as a receptionist and provided office support.

Lois and Don shared a love of family, home, and adventurous travel in retirement, with trips to Spain, China, Mexico, Canada, and beyond.

She was close with her siblings Harold "Butch" Raab, Edward Raab, and Linda Raab Fleischman.

Lois was known for her keen sense of humor, and friendly nature, often hosting and attending neighborhood gatherings. She was an avid and knowledgeable gardener and a naturally gifted cook. Lois hosted the extended family Thanksgiving dinner for many years, where her signature dishes were greatly anticipated and have become a family tradition. She was known as "Nana" to her four grandchildren and always had time for their stories, events, and achievements.
