Laurie Chambers Obituary

Laurie S. Chambers, 90, of Silver Spring, MD passed away on November 8, 2025.   Daughter of the late Harold Sollish and Effie Schwartz.   Sister of the late Joyce Hammerbacher and Michael Quintilian.

Wife of the late Walter J. Chambers.   Mother of the late Eric W. Chambers.   Survived by one child, Mark J. Chambers and son-in-law Cruz Campos.  Also, survived by three grandchildren, Garrett Chambers, Jenna Chambers, and Kaela Chambers.

Laurie was born in New York City.   She was a graduate of University of Maryland, College Park where she was a member of the theater group and where she also met her husband Walter Joseph Chambers.   Maryland became her permanent home where she had two children Eric Warner Chambers and Mark Justin Chambers.   Laurie was a devoted wife and mother to her children.   She worked and then retired as the senior production manager responsible for publishing many prestigious scientific journals.   Laurie enjoyed theater, dance, music, art, travel, dining out, tennis, reading, being with her family and friends, and she was an excellent cook.   Laurie will be missed greatly by her family and friends.   The family will be holding a memorial celebration of her life at the Sandy Spring Museum (17901 Bentley Road, Sandy Spring, MD 20860) on Saturday, December 6th from 5:00-8:00pm.   There will be plenty of food, music, and an open bar.   Casual dress.
