Larry G. Curtis, Sr. (Papa), 75 years of age, of Brinklow, MD passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Montgomery General Hospital.
Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years Susan, daughter Amy (Trevor) Wentzlaff, son Larry, Jr. and Stepson Bobby (Dianne) Burbank. Granddaughters Stacie, Samantha, Abigail and Shannon, great-grandchildren Adam, Austyn, Jason and Allyson, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Chester and Elsie (Pugh) Curtis, siblings, Joan, Leo, and Carol.
He was born March 7th,1946 in Silver Spring, Maryland. Graduated Wheaton High School in 1964. He joined the Army and served in Vietnam. He married Susan, September 20, 1969. They lived in Silver Spring before moving to Brinklow in December 1976. He worked in construction most of his life (part of the team that built the Ravens Stadium, NIH Clinical Research Building, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Fox Hill in Bethesda, Nordstrom in Pentagon City, U of MD Medical Systems Building, and many more). He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and doing crossword puzzles. He took pride in his yard work and his garden. He loved spending time with his wife Susan and taking her out for date night every Wednesday.
He was a loving, devoted husband, father and friend. He made everyone smile and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all that have ever met him.
Relatives and friends may visit on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 12pm to 1pm at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Rd., Laytonsville, MD 20882, where funeral services will be held at 1pm. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery in Brookeville, MD.
