Kenneth James McCormick

Kenneth James McCormick, the son of Gerald “Bud” McCormick and Margaret “Peg” Saulpaugh, was born December 23, 1951. He was born and raised in Maryland and continued to live and work in the DMV area throughout his lifetime. 

Ken was an avid mathematician and was fortuitous to use his talent for his lifelong career with the Smithsonian until he retired. Ken found enjoyment in the simple things. He loved classical music, playing the organ, cooking and drinking a cold beer, playing board/card games, and trips to his cabin and vacationing on cruises. 

Ken also loved researching past and additional family members over the years to add to his family tree records. He also enjoyed frequenting local shops to widen his growing coin and stamp collections. 

In his later years Ken suffered from symptoms of Parkinson’s and went on to pass February 3,2025. He is survived by two brothers, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is loved and will be missed dearly. May he rest in peace.

A memorial service will be held May 3 from 11 am to 1 pm at Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville,MD. We welcome all friends and family to attend.
