Katherine Widerman Obituary

 

Katherine Kuechle Widerman, 99, formerly of Westminster and Damascus MD, passed away on February 22, 2023 at Buckingham’s Choice Retirement Community, Adamstown MD.

She was born September 13, 1923 to parents Frederick and Katherine Kuechle.

Katherine shared seventy years of marriage with the late Claude B. Widerman.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by sisters Ida Dudderar Drummond and Marie Marsilius.  She is survived by three sons:  Mark (Debbie) of New Oxford PA, Brad (Arleen) of Burlington NC, and Jeff (Patty) of Ijamsville MD;  five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Prior to marrying Claude, Katherine was employed by Koppers/American Hammered.  After raising her children, she worked for Bechtel Corporation and City of Gaithersburg MD.

Claude and Katherine loved gardening, playing golf and watching sports on TV.  They had fond memories of the many trips they took, especially their visit to the Holy Land and Egypt.

A meticulous housekeeper, Katherine was also an avid reader and puzzle-worker.  Her greatest joy was being surrounded by family.

The family would like to express appreciation to the staffs of Buckingham’s Choice and Frederick Health Hospice for their exemplary caregiving and friendship.
