Josephine A. Burriss

Josephine A. Burriss, 94, passed away on January 4, 2026 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Montgomery Village, Maryland. She was the daughter of Bertie and Horace Bible and was married to her late husband, Edgar for 69 years. They had two daughters, Bobbi Jean Burriss and Judy Ann Fouche who are both deceased. She was the last of three sisters, Lois "Judy" Ray and Ada Ray.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Michelle Fouche and son-in-law Thomas Fouche, as well as nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was retired from Montgomery County Public Schools as a cafeteria worker where she enjoyed interacting with the young kids. She liked going to the country "Luray, Virginia" with family, going to yard sales, reading, crossword puzzles, and gardening. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise for the excellent care and helping her deal with dementia for the past three years. Also, would like to thank special neighbors Annie Dickson and Orlando Sanchez.

Per her wishes, she wanted to be cremated and buried at the Seale Family Cemetery in Laytonsville, Maryland. Family will get together at a later time.
