Jonathan C. Swindle

Jonathan Cameron Swindle, 81, of Derwood, Maryland, passed away on August 15, 2023.  “Jon”, as affectionally referred to by his family and friends, was born on July 1, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa.  He was raised in Richland, Washington and moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland where he attended Blair High School.  While playing football at the University of Maryland, Jon earned an undergraduate degree in finance. 

Jon began his career in public service by working at NASA. Additionally, he held roles in biotechnology and finance over his 40-year career. As an avid-outdoorsman, he enjoyed clay target shooting, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and international travel. Jon also enjoyed regular visits to St. Catherine’s Island in the Potomac River. As a consummate host, he was an accomplished story and joke teller that brought a smile to everyone’s face.

Jon is survived by his loving wife, Geri Swindle; children Matthew (Jennifer) Swindle, Paige (Joe) Erwin, Guy (Holly) Goodenough, Gene (Preity) Goodenough; grandchildren, Gena, Gavin, Grace, Cameron, Jai and Gia; and extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Jon was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Bryanna and Garrett.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 12:00-3:00 PM at The Manor at Silo Falls, 19501 Georgia Avenue, Brookeville, Maryland.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Michael J.
