Jeffrey Warren Harris
July 6, 1948 – November 19, 2025
Jeff Harris, a man who built his life on determination, humor, and an unwavering refusal to be limited by circumstance, passed away surrounded by love on November 19, 2025. Born in 1948, Jeff was told from a young age that he was “different.” Instead of shrinking from that label, he transformed it into a lifelong source of grit and purpose. If someone said he couldn’t do something, Jeff heard it as a challenge, and time after time he proved them wrong.
Golf was one of his earliest passions. With access to a local course and a natural talent for the game, Jeff lettered in golf at Peary High School, an achievement he held with immense pride, made even more remarkable given his diagnosis of Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy. Physical challenges never stopped him from pursuing what he loved.
Onstage, Jeff found another home. He played bass and sang in multiple bands, embracing his performances with the same bold spirit that defined the rest of his life. He traveled the world, he went to the football and baseball games he loved, and he poured himself into his work and community, at one point serving as President of the Wheaton, Maryland Chamber of Commerce.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Kathy Harris; his children, Krissy (Stephen Coghill) Harris, Katie (Andy) Rivers, and Doug (Nikki) Harris; his grandsons, William and Charlie Harris; and his sisters, Debby (David) Vicino and Diane (Bill) Bach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fran and George Harris, and his brother, Johnny Harris.
Jeff’s legacy is one of courage, defiance, music, laughter, and steadfast love. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. A Celebration of Life will be held for close friends and family at a later date. In honor of Jeff, please consider a donation to Donate | JSSA.
