Jean Bryan Karl, beloved wife and mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away July 2nd, 2025, at the age of 90. With a life lived vibrantly and a heart full of love, Jean leaves behind a legacy that will echo for generations.
Her husband, Jerry Karl, her son, Harry Karl, and her sister, Betty Kimmel, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Michael (Marcie) and Susan (Johnny); her grandchildren, Karlyn (Patrick), Meghan and Mason; her great granddaughter, Collins; and her sister, Bobbie (Larry).
She was born and raised by her parents, Grace and Russell Bryan, in her cherished hometown of Brookeville, Maryland. Once the love of her life swept her off her feet, she ventured out to join Jerry in a lifetime of exploring different states, communities, hobbies, friendships, full of joys and challenges, she gobbled up life.
To sum up her life is easy, she was devoted to her family. She was an expert homemaker, a faithful friend, and a beacon of steadiness and elegance in a changing world. Her presence made life richer for those lucky enough to know her, and her absence leaves an ache that words cannot ease.
She will be remembered for her hardy laugh, her kindness, her unmatched ability to create a home, and the boundless love she poured into the lives of those around her.
She will be missed terribly.
There will be a service held at Salem United Methodist Church in Brookeville, Maryland on Wednesday, July 16th at 1 pm, followed by a reception in the Church Hall.
In lieu of flowers, if you are so inclined, donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research would be greatly appreciated.
