Jean Eidman was born Jean Marie Cooper in Baltimore and died, in the presence of her three children on Dec 14, 2023, just two days before her 89th birthday. She was married to David Eidman for 47 years and they resided in the Idlewylde community north of Baltimore for much of their married life. In their empty nest years, the couple built a home in Parkton, Maryland and enjoyed the country setting. Dave predeceased Jean in 2002. In 2010, Jean became a resident of Leisure World, Maryland.
As a young mother, Jean served as a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher as well as a homemaker. She also enjoyed working with senior citizens and served as a senior club coordinator for the Baltimore County Dept. of Recreation. She later served as part of the Baltimore County Senior Ride team. Jean also volunteered as a docent at Evergreen Museum and Library, operated by Johns Hopkins University. The entire family would like to express gratitude to Benita Cruz, GNA of Care Plus, who was by her side many days from before and all during the COVID crisis until her final hours, to Brookeville House Staff and to Montgomery and Prince George’s Hospice for the care that Jean received in her final months.
Jean is survived by her sister Joanne Silva of Sanford, FL, daughters Betsy (Jean) McCloskey and Cindy Sheffield and son David; four grandchildren, Steve McCloskey, Nicole McCloskey Kadapakkam, Jon Sheffield and Christy Sheffield Rangel; and two great grandsons. Services will be announced following the holiday season. Gifts in memory of Jean may be made to Gideon’s International, PO Box 140800; Nashville, TN 37214-0800 or Montgomery Hospice, Inc., 1355 Piccard Drive, Suite 100; Rockville, MD 20850.
