Janice May Palmer Nicholson, age 93, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and community.
Born on March 3, 1932, Janice lived a full and vibrant life defined by determination, generosity, and a deep connection to the people and places she cherished. She was a woman of remarkable spirit—small in stature but truly larger than life—known for her fearless nature, honesty, and steadfast support of those around her.
Janice shared 73 devoted years of marriage with her beloved husband, Samuel George Nicholson, who survives her. Together, they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and a shared love of Rolling Acres Farm, where Janice was the heart, soul, and guiding force.
She is also survived by her three daughters: Pam Saul; Patty Foster (Kevin Foster); and Mary Lisa Leffler. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kristina Gilday (Patrick Gilday), Kimberly Reed (Cole Reed), and Ashley Worthington (Billy Worthington), and a devoted great-grandmother to her cherished great-grandson, Bennett Gilday.
A service celebrating Janice’s life will be held on Saturday, April 18th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Olney, Maryland. All are warmly invited to return to the family farm for lunch and fellowship following the service.
Her family and friends will carry her spirit forward—honoring her by living with the same courage, kindness, and love that she gave so freely.
