Janette Slagle Obituary

Janette Fiona Slagle of Germantown, Maryland departed this life for eternal peaceful rest on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in the comfort of her home while on Hospice Care at the age of 58.

Janette was born in Dundee, Scotland to Father James Genelli and Mother Georgina Genelli.  She was predeceased by her Mother Georgina, Father James, Sister Audrey Aschenbach, and Aunt Isobel Vinas. She was a graduate of Seneca Valley High School and soon after pursued a career at George Washington Hospital Center satellite office in Rockville.

In Janette’s golden days she was a very adventurous person who loved music and nature. She was in her element being outside exploring Great Falls or Sugarloaf Mountain while listening to Peter Frampton, Heart, or Gary Wright’s “Dream Weaver”. She was also an avid animal lover and always included dogs as part of the family. She would spoil the pets like children especially “Bubbie” who held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed spending the holidays with family and always made sure if someone was in need, they were welcome in her home. A fantastic cook she found peace in the kitchen and the family reaped the rewards. Even though she was a very caring and loving person she had her moments, call it strong-willed, hardheaded, or stubborn she had the inner strength to know what she wanted to do, and she did it. She would say it was part of her well-rounded personality.

Janette’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children Matthew Wayne Slagle and Melissa Marie Denney. Her three grandsons Brayden Michael Anthony Smith, Steven Dwane Miller, and Payton Matthew Miller. Also, her loving younger brother Kevin Roman, and Cousin Steve Gordon. Including her nieces Brandy Ashley and Bailey Roman. Nephews Jason Aschenbach, Shaun Aschenbach, Ryan Aschenbach, Brandon Aschenbach and Desmond Roman. Her partner of many years Gary Price and many great-hearted friends.

In this moment of great loss, as the family clings to one another, we are very grateful and thankful for the opportunity to lean on our friends. We want to express thanks to all of you who have showed amazing love in any way during her illness and passing. Unfortunately, it was an incredibly short period of time, but thank you for all the love and support.
