James Hagerman (Tim) Conner died on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the age of 93.

Tim Conner was born May 9th, 1931, in Washington, DC. He was the son of Charles E. Conner Sr and Margaret (Peggy) Hagerman.

At the age of 3, he and the family moved to Ashland Brooke Farm in Ashton, Maryland where he spent his life growing up and farming that property, growing corn, and raising cattle, sheep, and chickens.

He attended Sherwood Elementary and Sherwood High School. It was there where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Mary Susanne (Sue) Baughman. They graduated together in 1949.

He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1953 with a BS degree in Physical Education.

Tim Conner was a great athlete. He excelled as a player and coach, starring in baseball, and basketball and played organized softball for many, many years. In 2015, he was named to the Sherwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

He was a Life Member of the Sandy Spring Lions Club for 68 years, serving as King Lion/President in 1962-63. He was named Lion of the Year and Lion of the Years in 1973-74. In May of 1997, he received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award from Lions Clubs International.

He was a member of the Enterprise Farmers Club of Sandy Spring, serving many years as Secretary.

He and Sue were members of the local group known as the Home Interest.

In addition to all of this, Tim was the Driver's Education teacher at Sherwood for 30 years, retiring in 1984 after teaching multiple generations of Sherwood families.

He had a great voice. As a member of the DandyLions barbershop quartet, he entertained for many years. He was a member of the Ashton United Methodist Church Choir and the Montgomery County Barbershop Chorus. He also was involved in the beginnings of the Sherwood High School Rock and Roll Revival.

He is survived by his wife Sue, son Tedd, daughter Peggy Sue and 4 grandchildren including Morgan, Jimmy and Charlie, nieces and nephews Pete, Lynn, Terry and Michelle.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 20 at 11am at the Interfaith Chapel in Leisure World.
