James Stratton Obituary

 

James C. Stratton, 77, died Saturday, May 02, 2026 at his home in Burtonsville, MD. He was surrounded by family and friends and passed peacefully in the comfort of his home.

Jim was born on December 5, 1948, to Thomas and Mildred Stratton at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, MD.

He was called into Active Duty in the US Navy. After serving, he worked with his family before starting his own business of 40 plus years. He was well known for his passionate automotive interest which lives on through his grandson Lucas.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas James Stratton and his mother Mildred Keller Stratton.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sonja; his daughter, Shannon Stratton Noguera, son-in-law Ivan; and daughter Jessica Stratton; three grandchildren: Lucas, Diane and Elizabeth; and three great-grandchildren: Sara, Jaxxon and Cooper. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas George, and wife Betty, and his Sister, Linda Thomas and niece Michelle and former wife Susan Yauch Vencelov.

Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 6pm to 8pm and on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 10am to 12pm at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Rd., Laytonsville, MD 20882. A graveside service will be on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 1:30pm at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd., Brentwood, MD 20722. A Celebration of Life will follow the interment at 3pm at the Washington-Rockville Elk's Lodge, 5 Taft Ct., Rockville, MD 20850.
