James M. Barnsley Jr., 86 of Olney, MD passed away peacefully at his home after a battle with cancer on Sunday, December 18th.
Jim was born in Baltimore, MD on October 5, 1936 to James M. Barnsley Sr. and Mary Cornett Barnsley.
Jim (Mr. B) was the owner of Country Boy Market for 67 years. Country Boy opened in 1955 in Wheaton, MD and moved to Glenmont in 1982. The store was his life, which he ran with his two sons. Jim also enjoyed his time on his cattle farm in Crescent City, FL. Jim’s idea of relaxion was working on his farm and enjoying time with his family.
He was a Pioneer member of the Montgomery County Agriculture Fair, in addition to being a member of the Senior Farmers Club of Sandy Spring, the Florida Cattleman’s Association, and the Wheaton Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Blevins Barnsley, his high school sweetheart. They’ve been married for 66 years. They have 4 children, James M. Barnsley III and wife Savina Casey Barnsley; Thomas A. Barnsley and wife Tina Repass Barnsley; Cynthia Barnsley Thomas and husband Steve Thomas; Elizabeth Barnsley Money and husband Mike Money. They have 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.
Viewings will be held from 1-3pm and 6-8pm on Tuesday, December 27th at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville, MD.
Services will be held at 11am Wednesday, December 28th at Oakdale Church in Olney, with a gathering and refreshments to follow
Burial will be in Eden Cemetery in Crescent City, FL
