James (Jim) Arnold, of Damascus. Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026. Jim was born in September of 1944 in New Orleans, Louisianna. Jim was predeceased by his parents James and Oneida Arnold, and son-in-law Ron Loupe. He is survived by his wife, Karen; son, James Arnold, wife Susan ; son Corey Arnold, wife Danielle; and, daughter, Erin Loupe. Jim has numerous grandchildren, Janelle Granier, husband Gil; Jimmy Arnold, wife Cheyenne; Jennifer Heritage; Matthew Heritage, wife Nicole, Chris Heritage, and Zach Heritage. Jim was also blessed with several great grandchildren, Kailyn Smith, Brayden Heritage, Cameron Heritage, Aubrey Heritage, and Emmie Granier
Jim honorably served with the United States Navy in the early 1960’s and joined the Montgomery County Police Department in 1967. He retired as a Lieutenant in 1991. After retirement, he worked on a local county contract and a Justice Department contract. Jim also worked as a District Court Bailiff for almost twenty years.
Jim enjoyed time at home with his many Golden Retrievers. Jim was the chef of the family and enjoyed reading and experimenting with new and varied recipes. He enjoyed golf and riding horses, especially his American Quarter horse “Doc” in his earlier years. Jim could strike up a conversation with anyone and displayed an optimistic attitude even at the end of his very storied life.
