Herta W. Orzel

Herta W. Orzel, 88, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, at The Casey House in Montgomery County, Maryland. Born on May 24, 1936, in Germany, Herta lived a life filled with love, resilience, and devotion to her family.

In 1970, she married the love of her life, Chet Orzel, and together they built a home full of warmth and cherished memories. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose kindness and strength touched the lives of all who knew her.

Herta is survived by her devoted husband Chet, her loving son, Patrick Orzel, and his wife, Sandra Orzel; her step-children Nancy Haskins and Michael Orzel, her cherished grandchildren, Carley Benkhadra (Brian) and Brandon Orzel; and her great-grandson, Paxton Benkhadra. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.

Family and friends are invited to honor Herta’s life at a viewing and funeral service on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at The Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Casey House in her memory.

A repast will be held at the home of Pat and Sandy Orzel following the funeral service. Their address is 14 Roseneath Court Olney Maryland.
