Helen Virginia King

Helen Virginia King of Mount Airy Maryland passed away peacefully at home on March 29th 2025. Helen was born on December 8th 1941.  

Helen was survived by her son, Melvin King III and his wife Nancy King. Her brother Danny Chaney Grandchildren; Ronald Mills, Shannon Mills, Melvin King IV (Courtney), Amber Barnes (Ervin) Great Grandchildren; Jacob Shrewsberry, Savannah Mills, Cole Wright, Layla Broadhurst, Kevin King, Miranda Barnes and Ervin Barnes III.

She also loved all her brother and sister in laws very much.

Helen also leaves behind her best friend, Boxer whom she loved with all heart. Helen spent most of her Thursday nights playing bingo at the American Legion with friends and family. Helen loved gardening, tending to her chickens, watching hummingbirds at her feeders but most of all she loved being a Wife, Mom, Sister, Aunt and Nana to her family.

Helen spent most of her days talking with her sister in laws Debbie Bennet and Brenda King as well as her nieces Harley King and Cheryl Stokes Walker and many other family members who would check in from time to time.

Helen was proceeded in death by her husband Mel King, daughter Tamela Mills, son Robert King, Mom Maxine Chaney and her Dad Dana Edmin Chaney and older brother Sonny.

Her viewing and will be on April 7th 2025 from 6-8pm at Roy W. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville, Maryland.  Her memorial will be at the same location on April 8th 2025 at 12:00pm and laid to rest at Parklawn Cemetery in Rockville, Maryland.
