Halsey W. Smith (93) passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 3, 2025. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Karen and Kulley, and loving grandfather to Chris and Braedyn (Aaron). Halsey was a proud retired Sgt. Major in the Marine Corp – and recipient of the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his service in the Korean conflict.
Friends and family knew him as a kind person with such a positive outlook. He served his community through various organizations over the years – Lions Club, Marine Corp. Heritage Foundation, Montgomery General Hospital, American Legion, and others, including his devotion to his church. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Celebration of his life will be announced to friends and family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sandy Spring Lions Foundation, Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, or Salem United Methodist Church in Brookeville.
