Gregory D. Vahaviolos

Gregory Dimitrios Vahaviolos, of Silver Spring, MD passed away on July 20, 2022 after a battle with Dementia. Son of the late Dimitrious and Constantina Vahaviolos (Koumari). He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia Vahaviolos, daughters Rena Rodriguez and Dina Corno, son in-law Aaron Rodriguez, and two grandchildren, Nathan (17) and Emily Rodriguez (13). Also survived by his brother Ioannis Vahaviolos. At the age of 22, Gregory came to the United States in 1969 from Sparta, Greece after serving two years in the Greek Army. After settling in Silver Spring, Maryland, he worked hard to build a stable life for his family and took joy in the simple things in life; tinkering in his garage, annual family trips to the beach and amusement parks, and who could forget holiday traditions such as making his amazing souvlakia for Greek Orthodox Easter. Gregory was a devoted grandfather who was most proud of his two grandchildren whom he helped raise. He will be missed dearly.
 

A visitation will take place Monday, July 25 from 10:30am - 11:00am at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville, MD 20882, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00am.
