Gregory Joseph Dame of Rockville, Maryland passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024, at the age of 64.
Born on December 17, 1959, he was the son of the late Harold and Margaret Anne Dame. Father to Thomas Gregory, Alexandra Shawne, and Chelsey Dianne. Brother to Deborah Worrell, Stephen, Anne Hoover, Bernadette, Jeffrey (Trish), and Jennifer Tordella (Alex). Uncle to Daniel (Alex) Hoover, Noah and Maddie Dame. And Great Uncle to Henry, Natalie and Emily Hoover. Greg is also survived by his significant other Zeda Ruhl, as well as aunts, uncles, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and niece Jaime.
Greg will be remembered for his unyielding devotion to his 3 children, and his deep sense of faith, his easy sense of humor, an incredible talent for joke telling, his great love of the Beatles, amazing story telling ability, and a great talent for taking beautiful photos. For most of his life Greg owned and worked on muscle cars which brought him endless pride and joy. He was an avid collector of baseball cards, sports memorabilia, and hot wheels cars.
Greg worked for Safeway for 34 years, where he made many friends and was deeply respected throughout his career.
Greg’s gentle nature, kindness, generous spirit, infectious laugh, and fierce loyalty to those he loved will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church 2900 Olney Sandy Spring Road Olney MD at 10:00 am followed by internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 13801 Georgia Avenue Silver Spring MD.
