Florence Appleby Rich

Florence Appleby Rich, 75, of Gaithersburg, MD passed away Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Montgomery General Hospital, Olney. MD. She was the daughter to the late Harry Appleby Sr. and Marguerite Appleby Sr.

Born July 1, 1950, in their family home in Damascus, MD. Florence graduated Damascus High School in 1969.

She was a wife, mother and independent business owner specializing in Antiques.  

Florence was the heart of our home and will be deeply missed. She was known for her endless generosity, kindness, and devotion to her faith in our Lord Jesus, family, and friends. She loved her flower gardens, history, and sharing her with others.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, William Appleby, Harry Appleby Jr., Marguerite Appleby Jr., and Rosemary Burroughs, and John Riley Appleby Sr.

Florence is survived by her husband, Gary of 58 Years, her two children Paul Rich and Michelle Beachley and her husband Brent Beachley. She is also survived by her

siblings George Appleby, Charles Appleby Sr. & wife Maureen, Thomas Appleby & wife Sylvia and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral mass will be held Friday, November 7 at 10:00am, St. Paul's Catholic Church, 9240 West Damascus Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872. Interment will follow in Montgomery Methodist Cemetery, Damascus, Maryland. Repast will follow at the American Legion Post 171.
